Q.
Will there ever be a cure for autism?
A.
We certainly hope so. For now, most experts consider a successful outcome for someone with autism to be the ability to go into a mainstream classroom, to be indistinguishable from his or her peers in terms of social/language/self-help skills, and behavior, and eventually to live independently and become a fully participating member of society. Using these criteria, some individuals can be said to have recovered from autism.
