The Autism Spectrum Therapies Story
From its inception, Autism Spectrum Therapies (AST) has been a compassionate advocate for children and families navigating the challenges of autism. Our mission at our founding and today remains to help individuals with autism achieve their full potential. At AST we have always believed that the best results are achieved with family focused programs and hands on parental involvement grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) overseen by highly experienced and trained clinicians. We are passionate about our work and dedicated to our mission. Our passion and dedication continues to earn AST recognition as an innovative, world-class agency with the highest level of ethics and clinical standards.
In 1997, when the autism epidemic was still in its earliest stages, Dr. William Frea, AST Co-Founder, was among the first to recognize the growing need for high-quality autism treatment which addressed the needs of families desperate for autism therapy options. Dr. Frea turned to Dr. Ronit M. Molko, AST Co-Founder, to help develop a different approach to providing autism therapy programs rooted in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Together, they created a new agency committed to making a difference – Autism Spectrum Therapies (AST).
Initially, AST consulted primarily with school districts developing ways to include children with autism in mainstream classrooms. AST worked with teachers to implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques into their curricula and daily classroom routines. As the agency’s reputation for providing innovative autism treatment grew, so did its reach and services. As AST gained more recognition for its expertise and innovative programs, the demand for AST’s autism services increased. It was during this period when AST developed a full range of programs for infancy through adulthood which can be individualized for each client’s needs.
AST continues to pride itself as having some of the most experienced and capable clinicians in the field. Our current AST staff includes more than 12 doctoral-level clinicians and over 50 Board Certified Behavior Analysts. These highly-trained professionals are specialized in early intervention, positive behavioral support, and classroom-based education models. AST also is committed to the professional development of its clinicians, including regular training, mentoring, conference attendance, advanced coursework and continuing education.
At AST, our founding passion, dedication to those we serve and commitment to excellence remains unchanged. Whether you are a clinician, potential employee, or client, we invite you explore our website and learn more about the exciting things we are doing at AST.
